Allow yourself to be transported and sit among a field of poppies. This 50cm circle painting draws the viewer in as they see not only the stand out red poppies but also notice the shadows of gold poppies shimmering behind and among them.
This painting sat in my studio for days after I had painted those vibrant poppies. Sometimes paintings do that, they tell you they aren't finished, to be patient with them, they are trying to teach you something. Something wasn't right. Eventually I realised I wanted to paint these ethereal gold poppies intertwining the solid ones. Only seen when the light catches them. As we gaze at fields of poppies, may we always remember those who made the greatest sacrifice that came before us and those who go before us to keep us at home safe.
